Simply put, a Facial Plastic Surgeon is someone who specializes in surgery of the facial area, whether it be to enhance or change someone’s figure. Cosmetic surgery of the face and neck is unique in that a few millimeters can make the difference between a good and a great result. The anatomy of the face and neck is complex and it was this complexity that motivated me to pursue a career in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
My background in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery means that 100% of my training was performed operating in and around the facial area. During my residency, I was involved in many complex head and neck cancer resections and reconstructions. I was priviledged to do my training at the Bethesda Naval Hospital where reconstruction and cosmetic surgery were made up an unusually high percentage of our cases.
As a result, when I left the Navy I had performed numerous facial laser resurfacing procedures, facelifts, rhinoplasties, blepharoplasties and browplasties. I was able to sit for my boards, which were a comprehensive written and oral exam, ultimately achieving certification by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery thereafter.
I am thankful for all the great teachers and patients that I have met along the way. Without them, I could not have become the physician I am today. If you have questions about facial plastic surgery or my practice, please feel free to call us at (239) 481-9292.
